Hi and thanks for reading more about me!
My name is Hannah Van Overbeek. I live in Austin, Texas.
My Story
I’m Hannah, the founder of Jelly Wax. My entrepreneurial journey began early – at just six years old, I was selling sodas door-to-door in my neighborhood. By middle school, I had launched Hannah Must Haves, creating and selling handmade jewelry and accessories at local art fairs.
Born to a Dutch-American father and South Korean immigrant mother, I was homeschooled until high school, which gave me the flexibility to pursue my creative and business interests from a young age. This unique upbringing fostered my independence and entrepreneurial spirit.
After exploring various paths – from nearly becoming a pilot to working commission-only sales – I founded Jelly Wax at 18 years old. The business grew explosively, reaching $700,000 in sales within just three months. My journey hasn’t been without challenges, including a complete burnout that led me to pause the business for nearly two years.
During my break, I launched Project Pollywog, a jewelry brand supporting frog conservation efforts. With the support of my partner, who became both a personal and business ally, I eventually returned to rebuild Jelly Wax with more sustainable practices and clearer values.
Today, I’m passionate about providing quality waxing products while challenging societal beauty standards. Through my TikTok content, which has generated over 25 million views, I share authentic perspectives on body hair, self-acceptance, and entrepreneurship.
My approach to business combines creativity with purpose, always centering on creating value for others while remaining true to my evolving values.
